Prior to joining Visus, Ricardo worked as an Associate Scientist in the chemistry, manufacturing, and controls group at Glaukos. He was responsible for leading efforts in the laboratory to develop the iLution platform for treatment of DED, presbyopia, and glaucoma. He led the efforts of pre-formulation, formulation and analytical development, and establishing stability protocols.Ricardo holds a B.S. in Chemistry from California State University, Fullerton, and his research career begun at Dr. Nicholas Salzameda’s drug discovery laboratory designing and synthesizing small molecule inhibitors. He furthered his training as an organic chemist at Harvards’s REU in Professor Whitesides’ laboratory synthesizing optically active compounds. Whitesides is a key leader and innovator in the chemistry field.
